T-shirts. The apparel that expresses your thoughts, ideas, feelings and style. How did the T-shirt come about? It all started during WWI when the American troops noticed European soldiers wearing a comfortable and lightweight cotton undershirt during the hot and humid European summer. By the 1920s, T-shirt had become an official word in the American English dictionary. In 1955, T-shirt was made a contemporary symbol of rebellious youth by James Dean in “Rebel Without A Cause”. By the 1960s, the basic cotton T-shirt had become a commercial success with the prints and tie-dye designs. Variations in cutting such as Tank Top, Scoop Neck, V-neck and many more came on board soon after. The T-shirt is today an inexpensive, in style and statement-making apparel that youths, adults or celebrities love. T-shirts for hip-hop, T-shirts for smart casual or T-shirts as casual wears - they come in all sizes, all colors and all kinds of price range. Walk into any of the high-end fashion boutiques along Orchard Road and chances are that you’ll find T-shirts you can even wear to a dinner function. T-Shirts have certainly revolutionized the fashion scene. It has made its way into everyone’s wardrobe. Whether you love them or hate them, I’m sure you’ve at least worn it once in your lifetime. NOTE: There are numerous interesting shops at Far East Plaza that you can find interesting and unique T-Shirts. Most of them are self-designed by the shop owners, others imported from overseas.
